Baffinland is currently looking for its next best Electrician apprentice.
Candidates will join as trades assistants for six months, job shadowing and learning about their perspective trade. Upon successful completion of the six month introduction, candidates will write the Trades Entrance Exam.
Once enrolled in that program, candidates will become full time permanent apprentices at Baffinland. Below are listed the apprentice positions as well as a brief description of each position. The term of apprenticeship for an electrician is 4 years (four 12-month periods) including a minimum of 1500 hours of on-the-job training and 8 weeks of technical training in each of the first three years, and a minimum of 1350 hours of on-the-job training and 12 weeks of technical training in the fourth year.
To be considered you must meet the following requirements:
High school Graduate Certificate
OR a pass mark in all five Canadian General Educational Development (GED) tests
OR a successful completion of the trades entrance exam
OR a successful completion of the trade specific pre-apprenticeship program at Arctic College
