Currently Baffinland is looking for experienced Heavy Truck technicians to join their team on the Mary River Project. This position will report directly to the Mobile Maintenance Supervisor.

 

This is a permanent position based at site with a 2 week fly-in, fly-out rotation.


Main Accountabilities

  • Performing all tasks safely with the capability to follow procedures and policies set out by the employer
  • The disassembly/overhaul of engines or engine components, axles, brakes, suspensions, transmissions, drive systems components and other assemblies and components as required
  • The diagnosis and troubleshooting of equipment problems; identifying and replacing failed components, worn or broken parts, making all necessary adjustments and alignments and performing quality repairs.
  • Preventative maintenance focus with strong inspection skills and defect identification
  • Strong focus on housekeeping in the field, in the shop and any other work areas. Cleaning work areas and equipment as required.
  • Troubleshoot and repair of heavy trucks and medium duty equipment such as Western Star (6900XD series), Trailers, Kenworth, Forklifts, Skid steers, Telehandlers, Light vehicles and any other equipment as required.
  • Actively participates in continuous improvement and reliability initiatives and programs.
  • Performs high quality work at all times

Main Qualifications

  • A valid interprovincial Red Seal Certification as a Truck and Coach Technician with a minimum of 5 years’ experience in repair and service of heavy trucks both in the shop and in the field
  • Proven track record in safe work practices and quality workmanship
  • Ability to work autonomously
  • Focused, energetic and organized with superior attention to detail and a sense of urgency
  • Excellent troubleshooting and diagnostic skills
  • Motivated and hard working with a professional attitude
  • Ability to understand and execute oral and written instructions and to interpret technical manuals and specifications.
  • Language: Speak English, Read English, Write English (Inuktitut would be an asset).
  • Motivated to work under harsh Arctic temperatures
  • Previous mining experience is an asset.
