Baffinland is currently looking for a Certified Tool Crib Maintainer for Mary River Mine Site. This will be a rotation based role with a schedule of 2/2.

Main Accountabilities

  • Performing all tasks safely with capability of performing and following all procedures and policies set out by the employer
  • Identification, monitoring, organizing, tracking and distribution of all tooling used for maintenance purposes. Taking faulty tools out of service and ordering replacement tools when required.
  • Performing inventory counts and restocking of hydrocarbons, inventory and consumables as required.
  • Promoting Preventative maintenance practices with strong inspection and defect identification skills to identify improper use and defects in any tooling to ensure all tooling issued
  • Strong focus on housekeeping in the field, in the shop and any other work areas. Cleaning work areas and equipment as required.
  • Extensive experience organizing tools used for the maintenance of Cat 6030 face shovels, MD6290 drills, 777G trucks, 14H/14M/16H/16M Motorgraders, D6/D9T/D10T TT tractors, 390D/320D/345D Excavators, 992K/988H/950/930 Wheel loaders, 740B Articulated trucks, Skidsteers, Telehandlers as well as Sandvik DX800 drills, Terex/Grove Cranes and Western Star 6900XD Tractors with B-Train trailers.
  • Actively participates in continuous improvement and reliability initiatives and programs. Must be a leader amongst tradespeople to set the example of proper housekeeping and tool organization.
  • Use computers and SAP to track tooling and re-order supplies when required.
  • Performs high quality work at all times with strong attention to detail.

Main Qualifications

  • Certification in a related maintenance trade with experience maintaining equipment in a remote arctic environment.
  • Proven track record in safe work practices and quality workmanship
  • Ability to work alone and unsupervised in remote areas
  • Focused, energetic and organized with superior attention to detail and a sense of urgency
  • Excellent organization, failure mode analysis and defect identification skills
  • Motivated and hard working with a professional attitude
  • Ability to understand and execute oral and written instructions and to interpret technical manuals and specifications.
  • Language: Speak English, Read English, Write English (Inuktitut would be an asset).
  • Motivated to work under harsh Arctic temperatures
  • Previous mining experience is an asset.
