Reporting to the Crusher Supervisor the Crusher Operator 1 will be responsible for the safe and efficient operations of Crushing Operations periodic relief for Supervisor duties and will operate heavy duty equipment in accordance with quality, safety and efficiency standards for an open pit surface mine and crushing plant

Main Accountabilities

  • Perform all tasks assigned by the Supervisor.
  • To safely operate various heavy equipment units as have been trained and certified on.
  • To follow all procedures and policies as set by the company.
  • Daily management of operations within the Crushing sector
  • Meet objectives and comply with; safety plans, incident reporting process, policy/procedure reviews, etc.
  • To fill out all forms required for daily operation of an assigned unit.
  • To follow the Safety Plan as specified by the company and to accept the training to do so.
  • Perform pre and post-operational checks of equipment as well as assisting and performing the basic care and maintenance on equipment as may be required
  • Provide leadership among the crew and occasional supervision as required to accommodate breaks and meetings of supervisor
  • Compete all tasks assigned by your supervisor that may not apply to regular daily tasks.

  • Thorough working knowledge and understanding of efficient mining practices, procedures and regulationsExperience operating a crusher plant as a Tower Operator.
  • Has been assessed by the Company as proficient in the use of at least 2 different primary units within the crusher area including: Dozer, loader and Skid Steer.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience operating heavy equipment.
  • Must possess a valid form of government issued photo identification.
  • Must have demonstrated ability to work under minimal supervision.
  • Experience with equipment from CAT 777 and 793 Haul Trucks, D6 to D10 dozers, shovels, graders and other related support equipment considered an asset. 
  • Applicants must have the relevant operator licenses.
  • Crusher feeding experience would be an asset.
  • Must be able to lift at least 50lbs.
  • Incorporates HS&E concepts into work activities and demonstrates concern for others health & safety (co-workers, clients, and sub trades).
