This position will be based out of Baffinland's Iqaluit Office.

Main Accountabilities

Reporting to the Senior Manager Northern Affairs with the following responsibilities:


    • Implement the reporting and monitoring systems with BCLOs as established by the Senior Manager
  • Coordinate responses to employee grievances received from BCLOs or directly from affected individuals with HR department
  • Provides assistance to applicants and new employees from Iqaluit, including transmission of resumes, responses to job inquiries, completion of new hire documentation, provision of information respecting transportation to/from site
  • Assists with the planning and arranging, with the help of the BCLOs, of BIM community consultation tours
  • Participates as a team member during BIM community consultation tours if required
  • Provides communities with Project updates through the BCLOs;
  • Provides support to the Senior Manager as required in Baffinland’s dealings with regulators, community groups and local government
  • Assists in oversight of activities of the 5 BCLOs through:
      1. Ongoing supervision and oversight of BCLO activities;
      2. Regular weekly communications;
      3. Receipt of monthly BCLO reports;
      4. Administration of HR related issues: BCLO attendance, leave and lieu time
  • Prepares monthly reports for review of the Senior Manager
  • Coordinate translation and interpretation services as required;
  • Office Administration functions, including:
      1. Maintenance and tracking of expenses
      2. Handles mail and faxes
      3. Office and vehicle maintenance
  • Transportation of BIM staff to and from airport as required
  • Logistics for community tours and community meetings


Main Qualifications

  • Post-secondary education or equivalent experience in a related area
  • Fluency in English and Inuktitut
  • Extensive knowledge of Inuit culture and Inuit communities
  • Demonstrated communication and interpersonal skills (oral and written)
  • Ability to build strong relationships with a variety of stakeholders
  • Working Knowledge of MS Office Products
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • A member in good standing of the Qikiqtani Inuit Association or other Nunavut Regional Inuit Association
  • Ability to travel as required
