We are currently looking for our next great employee. Reporting to the Training Supervisor, the trrainer will be responsible for providing quality and timely operator and general site based raining, including training for policies/procedures, professional development, and on various items of mobile equipment to ensure operator competency, maximize equipment utilization and enhanced production.

 

The Trainer positions would be as follows:

 

Maintenace Trainer X 1

B-Train Tainer X 1

Heavy Equipment Operator Trainer X 2 

 

This position is based at the Mary River mine site in Nunavut, a fly-in fly-out operation . This position is on a two week on, two week off rotation.

Main Accountabilities

 

  • Provide training and mentoring of operators in the safe and efficient operation of all mobile equipment in the Surface Mining Fleet, Including: Slmulator, Classroom work, and Field work.
  • Provide direction and mentoring to senior drivers and equipment operators on shift who assist with training
  • Evaluate employees on their abilities to safely and effectively operate the equipment and other day to day activities
  • Liaise with Safety department to ensure that both technical and Safety training requirements  are being met for employees
  • Keep accurate records of training events and provide training reports and summaries as
  • Provide regularly monitoring and feedback to department managers and supervisors on training initiatives, outcomes and logistical issues
  • Assistance in ensuring production goals are achieved by working collaboratively with the various
  • Facilitation and presentation of additional internal training programs targeting the improvement of operator knowledge and skills as well as soft-skill development and policy/procedure training
  • Be a courageous safety leader; adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedure compliance to site IOHS standards as well as participating in safety initiatives, hazard identification, tool box meetings and incident investigations where required

Main Qualifications

  • A thorough understanding of open pit mine operations
  • Open pit mining and or training experience on the following: Haulage Truck, Tractor Trailer, Production Loader, Electric Drill, Heavy Duty Dozer, Grader, Electric/hydraulic Shovels, Backhoe (excavator), Mobile Crushing Plant, is considered an asset
  • Competency with the Microsoft Office®
  • Strong interpersonal, communication skills with a supportive, positive approach to training
  • Proven ability to present In an organized and effective manner, being able to adjust his/her communication  style as needed
  • Cultural awareness, respectful towards others and an understanding  of different  learning styles and principles as it relates to adult learning
  • Certification in instructional design techniques is a strong asset
  • Adaptable, willing to learn, self-motivated and fair
