Job Title: Fixed Plant Maintenance Supervisor


Responsible for operating and maintaining of power generation and distribution systems, and maintenance of the water treatment facilities, waste management, portable crushers and stackers, and all electrical equipment on site. Set up and arrange the daily work for the maintenance department and to supervise all direct reporting hourly personnel and routinely inspect all equipment in the area of influence to ensure it has been effectively maintained.


This is a permanent position based at site with a 2 week Fly-In, Fly-Out rotation.

Main Accountabilities

  • Strive towards achieving zero harm at all times while performing their respective functions and duties.
  • Ensure that all work is performed in a manner that conforms to all site safety policies and procedures, recognizing personnel who consistently meet or exceed expectations
  • Assist in the planning of maintenance activities with key stakeholders.
  • Lead, coach and mentor maintenance teams in all operational sites.
  • Develop safe work procedures and provide technical/operational input into maintenance procedures and systems to maximize reliability of equipment
  • Track, report upon and drive towards objectives as set by management in relation to the maintenance group's KPIs and overall performance
  • As directed by the Site Service Fixed Plant Maintenance Superintendents, assist in the recruitment and personnel training for the department
  • Schedule personnel rotation, performance reviews, administer vacation and issue disciplinary actions in accordance with BIM policies and standards.
  • Assist in the analysis of trends in equipment maintenance needs including breakdown, preventative maintenance, corrective maintenance, mean time between failure and mean time to repair.
  • Provide input and recommendations towards improving maintenance costs and as requested participate in preparing cost justification reports to support sustaining capital expenditures.
  • Assist in the analysis trends in safety, environment, maintenance and quality performance, as well as the consumption of resources, and implement actions to address negative variances, or to take advantage of opportunities as they arise.
  • Actively participate in the mentorship, development and selection of personnel.
  • Monitor production performance to ensure that processes are in place both to maintain department and equipment to sustain/build productive capability, and to meet the targets outlined in the Business Plan.

Main Qualifications

  • Certification or license in electrical or mechanical trade
  • 5 years + experience in supervisory or lead role
  • 10 years + experience in heavy industrial context
  • Ability to perform work accurately and thoroughly and report upon thereafter
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization using both verbal and written.
  • Capable of understanding and applying priorities as needed by the business.
  • Result oriented and goal driven. Proven field performance.
  • Basic computer navigation and utilization skills required.
  • Qualification for Post‐Secondary Education (if applicable): High school
