Mission for this Position

Reporting to the Corporate Controller, this role is responsible for the Treasury and AP functions including but not limited to, management and coordination of all matters pertaining to overseeing the back-office Treasury and AP functions. This role is also responsible for ensuring excellent team work, motivation, professional development and managing other employment-related issues within the Treasury and AP team. 

 

This is a hands on role in which fostering a constructive working relationship across functional groups (including reporting, operations and marketing) is critical.

 

This role is also responsible for cash flow management and therefore, having a good understanding of contractual payment terms and strong vendor relations is key.

 

 

Main Accountabilities

  • Prepare the weekly cash flow forecast that allows senior management to plan for and manage the cash requirements of the business
  • Responsible for bank transactions, including foreign exchange transactions
  • Manage the timely and reliable accounting for and reporting on investments, as required
  • Oversee the company’s insurance program
  • Supervise the Accounts Payable function to ensure robust controls over vendor payments (3-way match, down payment approvals) and efficient and accurate processing of invoices
  • Understand and track all payment deferral arrangements; review weekly cash flow requirements and assists in preparing quarterly cash flow forecasts
  • Review parked log on a weekly basis to coordinate ongoing resolution of issues with all stakeholders;
  • Ensuring compliance with credit deferral agreements
  • Other responsibilities as defined from time to time by the Corporate Controller

Main Qualifications

  • Previous experience working in a Treasury department and AP department is required.
  • Experience with SAP is required. Experience with Kofax is preferred.
  • A finance or accounting degree is required. An accounting designation (CA, CGA or CMA) is preferred
  • Minimum 5 – 7 years’ experience of managing Finance functions including the supervision of staff
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with ability to function in a high paced and demanding environment
  • Clear and concise communication skills (written and oral)
  • Excellent Microsoft office skills (excel, word and powerpoint) are required
  • Mining or other capital intensive industry experience is preferred
