Baffinland Iron Mines is seeking an Electrical Engineering graduate, interested in developing his/her career in the mining industry. Baffinland provides a great challenge to a resilient driven young professional willing to embrace the challenging Arctic environment, whilst learning all aspects of the mining operation through the company’s graduate development program. Baffinland’s graduate development program focuses on the development of its  future leaders through this initiative. This year Baffinland is hiring an electrical engineering graduate  for an exciting opportunity within this program.

 

 

This is a one-year position, based at our Mary River Mine site in Nunavut, Canada, with a 2 week fly-in, fly-out rotation. It will also require occasional travel to Baffinland’s corporate office in Oakville, Ontario, Canada.

 

 

Main Accountabilities

.

  • A self-starter with knowledge of production processes, quality control, costs, and techniques for maximizing efficiencies, planning, resource allocation and coordination of resources.
  • Ability to manage tasks/projects to completion within a set time frame.
  • Exhibit critical thinking: Use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems.
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Ability to write clearly and accurately, and strong verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.

Main Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science or Master’s degree in Electrical engineering from an accredited college/university.
