    Fixed Term Environmental Technician will be responsible for performing compliance inspections, environmental monitoring programs and mitigation actions, and support reporting requirements.


    Please note: this is a Fixed term position requiring a 4x2 week Fly - In, Fly-Out Rotation

    Main Accountabilities

    • Conduct field monitoring and sampling programs as required under existing permits, licenses, and the company's Environmental Management System 
      • Conducting water and wildlife monitoring and sampling programs
      • Conducting compliance and construction monitoring inspections
      • Implementing water treatment programs
      • Implementing sediment and erosion mitigation measures
    • Focus on role is performing
    • Assisting process and environmental engineers with specific tasks relating to wastewater treatment activities
    • Assisting scientific specialists in the collection of baseline and effects programs for terrestrial and aquatic field programs.
    • Processing, packing, and shipping collected samples as required.
    • Conduct field analyses of samples using on-site portable analyzers and meters.
    • Calibrating, installing and maintaining sampling and monitoring equipment.
    • Entering collected field and laboratory data into the environmental database
    • Regularly updating, filing, and managing environmental documentation.
    • Conduct internal due diligence compliance inspections of various site facilities and operational activities
    • Assisting in the preparation and implementation of environmental training exercises.
    • Conducting regular environmental and technical inspections of site infrastructure and construction areas.
    • Participating and assisting in waste and water management programs.
    • Other technical field and office tasks to support the sustainable development and site operations

    Main Qualifications

    • Graduate or Third or fourth year university student enrolled in an environmental science or environmental/chemical/process engineering program or technologist program in environmental related field
    • Northern/ arctic experience and working in a mine considered to be an asset
    • Physically fit
    • Valid Provincial or Territorial driver’s license
    • Excellent organizational skills.
    • Personable and ability to get along with others.
    • Strong communication skills
    • Experience with outboard motors and boats, including pleasure craft operating license an asset.
    • Experience and proficiency with MS suite of software products such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
    • Training or Experience with Water Sampling practices and programs
    • Training or Experience with compliance inspections
    • Training or Experience with sedimentation and erosion mitigation measures
    • Training or Experience with process engineering and water treatment is an asset
