    We are currently looking for our next great employee. Baffinland has an opening for a Business Process Superintendent to facilitate a standardized planning process and predictive monitoring system, while supporting the Reliability Initiatives within the Operational Excellence department. This is an excellent opportunity to join one of the most exciting and remote Mining projects in Canada. 

     

    Please note: This is a permanent position requiring a 2 week Fly-in, Fly-out rotation.

    Main Accountabilities

    • Support the Reliability & Operational Managers to develop BIM reliability and Operational Excellence Systems
    • Develop a Standardized Planning System to be used by all planners
    • Train, coach and audit BIM planners according to the new standardized system to maximize effectiveness of the planners, improve reliability data collection and improve overall site performance
    • Development of the asset lifecycle management system, including standardizing equipement numbering and naming standards and lifecycle analysis.
    • Develop and monitor planning KPI’s to aid in the continuous improvement of the planning process
    • Review short term and long term plans for attainment to plan, and recommend actions to address variances to plan, and short comings in the planning process
    • Assist in the development of equipment status reports and KPI’s for overall department equipment utilization, availability and facilitate status tracking of equipment by department.
    • Site SAP SuperUser and Site Contact for SAP change management
    • Provide ongoing training and coaching in the use of SAP on site
    • Develop and lead the process of medium and longterm planning coordination across departments
    • Support the implementation of Lean Manufacturing within the site
    • Support the development of component and equipment standards
    • Facilitate and lead team activities and rapid improvement events as required
    • Track, communicates and shares results and lessons learned – ensures successes are published and communicated to all employees
    • Assist in interpreting facts and information gathered to understand current state and defined future states
    • Build sustain and leverage day to day relationships and communications with partners and individuals within area of immediate responsibility to contribute to business development
    • Focus upon process improvements to enhance productivity, increase revenue, enhance safety and reduce cost, consistent with the strategic direction of the company.
    • Work with regional and mine site leadership and multi-functional teams to identify, develop, execute and complete selected improvement projects
    • Act as a change agent to instill an operational excellence, performance improvement culture throughout the organization

      Secondary Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Present findings formally to Senior and Executive Management teams
    • Perform benchmarking activities
    • Perform various project administration tasks, including coordinating meetings, taking meeting minutes, forwarding communication releases, and perform maintenance of project tracking logs (i.e. issues, change control, etc) in order to satisfy project management processes
    • Other duties as assigned.

    Main Qualifications

    • Extensive experience using SAP maintenance system is required
    • Experience in business process design and re-engineering
    • Experience in successfully leading to completion, mid to large scale transformations of complex business processes resulting in significant and sustainable results
    • Experience with developing and reviewing process methodology and tools
    • Significant experience designing workshops, facilitating group sessions and work with teams and gain crucial input from key contributors
    • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft suite required
    • Experience in open pit mining preferred, Arctic experience beneficial
    • Strategic thinking and understanding of critical issues related to mining
    • Maintenance Management Professional (MMP) or similar certification would be considered an asset
    • Must have strong analytical skills

    • Demonstrated ability to partner with cross functional groups to successfully manage project deliverables
    • Exceptional analytical skills at both strategic and functional levels
    • Proven ability to lead and work through others without direct reporting relationship to achieve business goals utilizing persuasion and influencing skills
    • Knowledge in organizational design and change management principles and methodologies
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with all levels of the organization (written/verbal)
    • Lean experience preferred
