    Baffinland is currently looking for a "Environmental Co-ordinator" for Mary River Mine Site.

     

    This will be a rotation based role with a schedule of 2/2.

    Main Accountabilities

    • Assuming a leadership role in environmental management and instilling sustainable development values in employees of the Company, Partners, and Contractors through mentoring, teaching, and operations management
    • Support in the preparation and management of annual operating programs and budgets for the environmental field function, including programs developed in support of mine permitting.  Administration and management of logistics associated with assigned programs within allocated budgets
    • Ensuring compliance with environmental legislation, permits, policies, guidance, and best practice across the Project.  Supporting implementation of the Environmental Management Plans (EMPs) and Environmental Construction Protection Plan (CEPP) for the Project
    • Taking on key supervisory role for Environmental Technologists and Technicians and participating/training staff in the conducting of field compliance monitoring, sampling, and inspection/auditing programs
    •  Monitoring of the Company’s activities and obligations with respect to legal and regulatory requirements, good corporate practice and commitments
    • Undertaking field monitoring and supporting external reporting as required under existing permits, licenses and the Company’s environmental management system.  Evaluating the effectiveness of the EMPs and CEPP for the Project and seeking opportunities for continuous improvement
    • Administration of existing permits, licenses and management plans.  Liaison with the land owner, institutes of public government, government officials, and inspectors with respect to permit and license compliance and reporting
    • Support in the technical scope and budget definition
    • Taking on the role of Acting Environmental Superintendent from time to time at the request of the Environmental Manager

    Main Qualifications

    • A minimum of 4-7 years environmental management experience on mining operations and/or construction projects
    • Experience in mine commissioning and operating environments considered an asset  
    • Mine site experience is a definite asset.
    • Excellent organization and time management skills are essential; must have strong PC skills
    • Experience with EQWin environmental database and AutoCAD/ArcView will be useful. Knowledge of current environmental legislation (Territorial and Federal) will be an asset
    • A valid Driver’s License is essential
