    We are looking for people ready to share, build, and grow with our company.Baffinland Iron Mines is currently seeking an IT Technician to be responsible of helpdesk support for all sites.Provide helpdesk and network support to the site operations IT team.  Primarily will be responsible to keep the network and assorted core systems operational while also providing basic helpdesk support as needed. 

     

    Main Accountabilities

    • Provide technical support and troubleshooting for all users at the different sites
    • Help maintain all infrastructure
    • Maintain Cisco phone system and voicemail
    • Familiar with CMS and WebEx installations
    • Familiar with wired and wireless Cisco networking solutions
    • Manage, monitor and test routine system backups/restores as necessary
    • Maintain inventory of all IT equipment
    • Anticipate, mitigate, identify, troubleshoot and resolve hardware and software problems on servers, workstations, printers, etc.
    • Lifting and transportation of moderately heavy object such as workstations, servers, etc.
    • Conduct all work safely and follow all mine SOPs.
    • Demonstrate awareness and commitment to health, community and environmental protection and take action to ensure that unsafe practices or non-compliant behaviors do not occur.

    Main Qualifications

    • Significant technical knowledge and understanding of infrastructures and applications used in mining industry
    • Cisco Certifications an asset
    • Extensive Networking and VOIP skills
    • Experience in writing various forms of business documents, including reports, manuals and operational procedures
    • Able to provide first and second level support
    • Ability to prioritize tasks
    • Strong analytical/problem solving skills with high attention to details
    • Hands-on, self-sufficient and demonstrate a positive can do attitude
    • Self-starter able to work in challenging conditions with little supervision
    • Working at heights, fall arrest training
    • Man lift training
    • Experience working with hand tools and termination equipment (Copper and Fiber)
    • Experience working with power tools
    • Rotational site experience
    • VHF and LTE experience
