    We are currently looking for our next great employee. Baffinland is currently looking for Manager Reliability and Operational Excellence.To develop and lead a reliability and operational excellence culture that facilitates the achievement of significant improvements in the efficient and effective execution of the business strategy. Direct reporting to the site General Managers, the canditate will also functionally be reporting (dotted line) to the Chief Technology Officer (CTO), the Manager - Reliability & Operational Excellence mandate will focus upon process improvement to enhance productivity, increase revenue and reduce cost, consistent with the strategic direction of the company.

     

    This position is accountable for delivering on multiple, highly complex, highly visible Initiatives that will have an immediate and long-term impact, leading to positive systemic change. The incumbent with their team will support BIM operations on a daily basis and will work with multifunctional teams and business leadership to identify, develop, execute and complete selected improvement projects and will act as a change agent to install a reliability and operational excellence, performance improvement culture throughout the organization.

     

    Please note: This is a permanent position requiring a 2 week Fly-in, Fly-out rotation. 

    Main Accountabilities

    • Lead a team of reliability superintendents and operational excellence superintendent
    • Support BIM operations through priorities set by General Managers
    • Help the CTO to develop BIM Reliability and Operational Excellence systems
    • Lead/participate in the development and design of new processes, organization structures, implementation plans and/or change management plans as appropriate depending on the complexity of the program/project or engagement.
    • Identify sources of information, possible interfaces and detailed process descriptions.
    • Assist in in interpreting facts and information gathered to understand current state and define future state.
    • Manage the collection and compilation of Internal and external data and information and analyze information relevant to the objectives of the projects.
    • Identify inconsistencies and gaps within a business process description and work with stakeholders to clarify and simplify complex processes
    • Deliver project planning documents (drafts and updates) including project work breakdown structures, layers of engagement, project charters etc.
    • Identify project related risks and Issues and escalate to VP when necessary
    • Participate in the development of risk mitigation plans to meet project needs
    • Apply standard OpEx and reliability methodologies and tools in the completion of assigned tasks
    • Build, sustain and leverage day-to-day relationships and communications with partners and individuals within area of immediate responsibility to contribute to business development.
    • Train other team members on performance improvement methodology during project execution
    • Develop and lead a reliability and operational excellence culture that facilitates the achievement of significant improvements In the efficient and effective execution of the business strategy
    • Focus upon process improvement to enhance productivity, increase revenue, enhance safety and reduce cost, consistent with the strategic direction of the company.
    • Be accountable for delivering on multiple highly Complex, highly visible initiatives that will have an immediate and long term impact, leading to positive systemic change.
    • Work with regional and mine site leadership and multi-functional teams to identify, develop, execute and complete selected improvement projects.
    • Act as a change agent to instill an operational excellence, performance improvement culture throughout' the organization.
    • Demonstrated ability to lead teams of subject matter experts through all phases of process redesign (mobilization on current state assessment, best practices, future state visioning/strategy, blueprinting,   implementation and metrics development)
    • Exceptional analytical skills at both strategic and functional levels.
    • Proven ability to lead and work through others without direct reporting relationship to achieve business goals utilizing persuasion and influencing skills.
    • Knowledge in organizational design and change management principles and methodologies.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with all levels of the organization
    • Six Sigma Green belt or Black Belt is desirable
    • Understand reliability and maintenance concepts

    Main Qualifications

    Main Qualifications:

    • Experience in business process design and reengineering
    • Experience in operations and/or maintenance is required.
    • Experience successfully leading to completion mid to large scale transformations of complex business
    • processes resulting in significant and sustainable results
    • Experience with developing and reviewing process methodology and tools.
    • Significant experience designing workshops, facilitating group sessions and work with teams and gain
    • crucial input from key contributors.
    • Advanced knowledge of word and excel and proficiency in power point and Microsoft vision required.
    • Experience in open pit mining. (desirable)
    • Degree in Engineering
    • Strategic thinking and understanding of critical Issues related to mining

    Functional/Technical Skills:

    • Excellent relationship management skills – listening, diplomacy, patience and negotiation.
    • Management ability to lead a team of 5 professional employees
    • Demonstrated ability to partner with cross functional groups to successfully manage project deliverables.
    • Demonstrated ability to lead teams of subject matter experts through all phases of process redesign (mobilization on current state assessment, best practices, future state visioning/strategy, blueprinting,   implementation and metrics development)
    • Exceptional analytical skills at both strategic and functional levels.
