    Reporting to SAP Manager, the position provides direct support for Baffinland SAP Finance, Controlling and Project system application. This position will work closely with members of the finance team to understand their requirements related to SAP FI/CO and PS to deliver solutions to meet those needs.

    Main Accountabilities

    • Lead, design and implement SAP FI/CO and PS module, including requirements gathering, blueprint, design and technical implementation of the solutions in accordance with industry best practices. 
    • Act as a technical subject matter expert with regards to Finance, Controlling and Project system process, system design, and development related activities.
    • Provide SAP production support and technical expertise in analyzing/resolving FI/CO and PS issues/inquires.
    • Provide support for month-end, quarter-end and year-end processing and maintenance.
    • Perform analytical activities of current and proposed system process changes while supporting continuous business improvements. Understanding the broad business process and accurately anticipate and recommend business process improvements.
    • Direct outside consultation activities as required to meet project needs.
    • Interact with other IT Development and other departments including third party consultants to clarify and build applications that meet the business unit’s objectives;
    • Through the appropriate use of SAP controls ensure data integrity and accuracy, providing audit support as required;
    • Produce technical documentation including but not limited to System Requirements Specification, Functional Specification, Test Plan and Training documentation.
    • Act as a technical subject matter expert with regards to programming, system design, and development related activities. This may include leading code and design reviews within a project team,
    • Perform knowledge transfer, internal training for SAP team and conduct end user training.

    Main Qualifications

    • Post-secondary degree/diploma in Computer Science, Finance or equivalent work experience required,
    • 7+ years’ work experience in SAP ECC specializing in FI/CO and PS modules. SAP FI/CO certification desirable.
    • Working knowledge of SAP modules and expert knowledge in the integration points between FI/CO and MM, PM, PS and HR.
    • Professional accounting designation required.
    • Strong knowledge of business processes relating to General Ledger, Financial reporting, Accounts Payable, Tax, Cost center accounts, fixed assets, IFRS and GAAP.
    • At least 2 implementations preferably within the mining industry.
    • Strong knowledge of business processes relating to finance and controlling
    • Application support background, with experience in managing priorities, workloads and coordinating the resolution of issues across teams.
    • Strong problem solving, troubleshooting and analytical skills.
    • Ability to communicate effectively with both business and IT personnel and all levels in the organization. Self-motivated, energetic, dependable, and thorough.
    • Team attitude: eager to cooperation with others with interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to handle multiple responsibilities and tasks on a regular basis.
    • Ability to create and deliver effective training to both IT personnel and business users in FI/CO and PS modules
    • Willingness to work out of office hours to support production issues
