    Reporting to the Corporate HR Manager, the Inuit Recruiter will be responsible for the focused recruitment and hiring of Inuit employees for Baffinland Iron Mines. The Inuit Recruiter will be expected to create strong working relationships with the hiring managers, Baffinland Community Liaison Officers and Baffinland’s Iqaluit office based personnel.  The Inuit Recruiter will be expected to search relentlessly for potential Inuit candidates and work collaboratively and with tenacity to recruit Inuit to Baffinland’s team. This individual will have a strong sense of urgency and ownership in order to help achieve outstanding levels of Inuit employment at Baffinland. 

     

     This position will be based out of our Iqaluit Office.

    Main Accountabilities

    • Perform full cycle recruitment activities including resume qualifying, pre-screening, Inuit candidate pipeline development and offer presentation
    • Promote Baffinland brand within Nunavut  by driving new and improved resourcing initiatives and ensuring resourcing commitments in the Inuit Impact and Benefit Agreement (IIBA) are fully met including notifications of vacancies, recruitment process and priority hiring.
    • Be solutions oriented and work to constantly remove barriers to Inuit employment
    • Hit and surpass recruitment metrics to guarantee successful coverage of all open positions
    • Ensure open, collaborative communication by following through with the hiring managers and candidates at all times
    • Develop strong relationships with Baffinland’s Community Liaison Officers, Baffinland’s Iqaluit based personnel and Hiring Managers to ensure that recruitment and interview activities are well promoted and smoothly implemented
    • Responsible for utilizing Applicant Tracking System to record and track all stages of recruitment.
    • Accountable for all filing, entering, and maintaining of job requisitions and offer documents.
    • Work closely with corporate staff, and candidates, to facilitate and complete background verifications
    • Update the Inuit recruitment database and provide statistics/analysis as required.
    • Maintain strong relationships with interested and qualified candidates to ensure a strong pipeline of resources in the event of attrition
    • Establish and maintain a strong working relationship with staff at the Qikiqtani Inuit Association
    • Follow payroll cut offs and communicate changes, and information in line with required timelines
    • Assist with documentation management and filing on a weekly basis.
    • Member of the IIBA Employment Committee to advise on site specific Inuit HR activities (i.e.
    • recruitment) 
    • Supported by the Sustainable Development Team, ensure that Company HR practices align with the IIBA
    • Participate in Community recruitment throughout Nunavut, as scheduled
    • This position will require travel to Mary River Mine Site and Baffin Island communities

    Main Qualifications

    • Must have a post-secondary diploma or degree in Business or Human Resources OR an equivalent post-secondary degree
    • Minimum of 3 years Human Resource or recruitment experience
    • Fluency in English and Inuktitut considered an asset
    • Extensive knowledge of Inuit culture and Inuit communities
    • Adept with MS PowerPoint, Excel, Publisher or similar graphics program, basic data base reporting
    • Must be a multi-tasker, self-starter and highly organized
    • Required to have a strong sense of urgency and effectively work within tight time constraints
    • Must have a strong sense of ownership and has a proven track record for developing solid working relationships with internal and external team members
    • Possess strong written and verbal communication skills
    • A continuous learner that applies learnings to the benefit of the company
    • ICIMS (applicant tracking system) and SAP skills/experience an asset
