    Baffinland is currently looking for Maintenance Supervisor for Mary River Mine Site. This will be a rotation based role with a schedule of 2/2.


    Main Accountabilities

    • Monitor condition and ensure preventative maintenance of all equipment and infrastructure as directed and advise and act on areas to be improved while ensuring compliance to all applicable work standards. Ensure urgent breakdown repairs are attended to adequately and in a timely manner by employees or contractors under their direction.
    • Carry out structured routine safety inspections, observations, and any other initiatives as directed in cooperation with Management as required.
    • Actively promote full cooperation between the maintenance section, contractors and all other sections of the operation.
    • Identify opportunities for continuously improving of maintenance processes and systems.
    • Complete reports and perform record keeping as required and directed.
    • Communicate effectively with all other sections and contractors.
    • Perform QA/QC assessments to identify gaps and put control measures in place for correction of all deviations to procedures and standards
    • Identify and order all parts required for all maintenance activities, ensure compliance to budget.
    • Report and track employee’s hours while maintaining records of all hours worked under employees under your direction.
    • Monitor equipment KPIs, perform quality control inspections, put measures in place to improve quality of work being performed and measure improvements.
    • Communicate with the maintenance planners on task progression, parts requirements, task duration, input schedules and accurate equipment information.
    • Carry out daily tool box talks, safety meetings, routine and statutory inspections, root cause analysis and planned task observations as directed.
    • Ensure proper field level risk assessments are performed and documented before task commencement for all employees.
    • Participate in development, implementation and adherence to safe work procedures and promote high safety, health and environmental awareness and compliance to all standards.
    • Ensure appropriate facilities, procedures and workforce competence and quality to achieve legal compliance, incident prevention and the achievement of tasks in an environmentally sustainable manner.
    • Assist in preparing scopes and monitoring performance to plan. Advise and implement corrective measures.
    • Ensure effective communication with all other supervisors, especially during shift and rotational changes.
    • Will work shift work as directed and required by the operation. This will include day and night shifts.
    • Ensure compliance to planned maintenance schedules, obtain and create service reports, close work orders, create requisitions and any other functions required to maintain compliance to plan, manage equipment backlog and track all work performed by employees and contractors under your direction.
    • Investigate non-conformances/compliances thoroughly and administer disciplinary action when required in conjunction with the management group.
    • Ensure all safety and fire prevention systems on all equipment are operating correctly, perform pre PM inspections and perform pre-release inspections to ensure quality maintenance practices and all safety and fire prevention systems are operating as designed.
    • Welding and fabrication experience required with an emphasis on equipment, structural and ground engaging tool maintenance best practices and procedure development and compliance.

    Main Qualifications

    • 10+ years of maintenance experience with a minimum of 3 years in a supervisory role in a mining environment.
    • Post- Secondary education (College or University) along with a minimum of an interprovincial Red Seal Certification of Competency in a relevant field for equipment maintenance is required.
    • Previous Arctic and remote site experience along with SAP maintenance systems efficiency would be beneficial.
    • Previous experience working with employees of all competency levels in remote mining camps as well as developing individuals with minimal experience performing maintenance in a mining environment is beneficial.
    • Experience mentoring, providing solid direction and safety leadership to all employees and contractors under their direction in harsh field environments and in the workshops.
    • Extensive experience performing and supervising maintenance being performed on Cat 6030 face shovels, MD6290 drills, 777G trucks, 14H/14M/16H/16M Motorgraders, D6/D9T/D10T TT tractors, 390D/320D/345D Excavators, 992K/988H/950/930 Wheel loaders, 740B Articulated trucks, Skidsteers, Telehandlers as well as Sandvik DX800 drills, Terex/Grove Cranes and Western Star 6900XD Tractors with B-Train trailers.
