    Baffinland is looking for an Intermediate Contracts Administrator for a one year contract. Administer contracts for the12Mtpa Expansion Project to ensure the contracts are executed in time, completed on time, within budget and are run efficiently.

    Main Accountabilities

    • Assist project team members to develop scope of works and assist in formatting the scope of work applicable for contracts
    • Undertake QA/QC of contract deliverables provided to contractors and received from contractors to ensure adequate detail of information is provided per contract obligations
    • Work closely with project team to ensure contract Key Performance Indicators are in line with BIM business targets
    • Clearly define contract deliverables and contractor outputs to ensure Baffinland can govern contractor performance
    • Review and recommend bidders for key items in conjunction with the applicable project team members to ensure a competitive tendering environment exists
    • Establish and administer all contracts for the 12Mtpa Expansion project team
    • Negotiate cost and schedule impact related to change orders and other contract modifications
    • Review and approve payments under applicable contracts to ensure contracts are delivered to approved 12Mtpa Expansion Project budget
    • Monitor progress and ensure timely notification of anticipated overrun
    • Work closely with Project Controls Manager to ensure costs and schedule targets are met and that the Manager is fully aware of all changes and current estimate to complete
    • Participate in cost and schedule reviews and participate in other applicable contract governance reviews
    • Support contract dispute resolution activities as required
    • Evaluate for adequacy, the contractor’s project control management systems
    • Evaluate and make recommendations on contractor requests for waivers and deviations
    • Ensure timely submission of required reports
    • Receive, inspect and accept or reject partial deliveries of all contract deliverables
    • Ensure contractors are set up in internal control and financial management systems (SAP)
    • Comply with all applicable Group Level Documents as they relate to contracts and contract management
    • Ensure Baffinland HSE Management and Sustainable business Standards are incorporated in all work undertaken and supporting systems and procedures are in place
    • Ensure EWRM strategy is implemented to ensure risks are systematically identified and managed, backed by Risk Management Guidelines
    • Lead and develop culture of Zero Harm
    • Ensure all work undertaken is consistent with Baffinland Charter Values and Code of Business Conduct


    • Ensure contracts are executed in time, completed on time, within budget and are run efficiently
    • Ensure contractor performance meets current standards / best practice criteria


    • Ensure all activities provide maximum benefit to shareholders through cost effective sourcing and use of contractors
    • Understand critical risks for all activities and implement control strategies

    Main Qualifications

    A degree in engineering or related discipline would be advantageous.


    Experience & Technical Competencies


    • 3-5 years related contract management experience in a high value complex area (mining / construction (desirable))
    • Lump Sum Turn Key (LSTK), EPCM, FIDIC and other major contract package experience desirable
    • International experience in contract management and knowledge of the supplier market an advantage
    • Superior computer skills – using Microsoft Office suite
    • SAP or other financial accounting software knowledge desirable
    • Understanding of engineering, procurement and construction techniques with working knowledge of technical aspects required 
    • Proven financial evaluation skills
