    To operate heavy duty equipment in accordance with quality, safety and efficiency standards for an open pit surface mine. Thus meeting the objectives of the mine while maximizing the economic mining life of the Mines through prudent recovery of existing known resources. This position reports to the Ore Handling Supervisor.

     Please note: this is a permanent position requiring a 2 week Fly - In, Fly-Out Rotation

     

    This position is responsible for the safe operation of equipment.

    Main Accountabilities

     

    • Perform all tasks assigned by the Supervisor.
    • To safely operate various heavy equipment units as have been trained and certified on.
    • To follow all procedures and policies as set by the company.
    • To fill out all forms required for daily operation of an assigned unit.
    • To follow the Safety Plan as specified by the company and to accept the training to do so.
    • Perform pre and post-operational checks of equipment as well as assisting and performing the basic care and maintenance on equipment as may be required

     Environmental/Physical Demands: 

    • Work in extreme low temperatures down to minus 40 Celsius.
    • Physically able to use all standard hand tools and lifting up to 25 kg.

    Main Qualifications

    • Class 1 or AZ Driver’s License with off-road driving experience.
    • Completion of Grade 12 education or GED equivalent preferred
    • Minimum 2-5 years of experience within field operating equipment
    • Must have experience working in remote and isolated locations
    • Capacity to work under pressure
    • Incorporates HS&E concepts into work activities and demonstrates concerns for others health & Safety (Coworkers, clients, and sub trades.)
    • Prefer experience with heavy haul background
    • Candidates with operating experience on off road B train, loader, excavator, skid steer will be given preference
