    Baffinland is currently looking for Contracts Specialist for Oakville Office.


    Contract formation and direct management for major service contracts. Provide guidance and coverage for all contracts including non-Operations contracts

    Contract claim management and lead dispute resolution with legal interface and management inputs. Close interfacing with the User departments in administration of the contracts.

    Development of contracting strategy, leading RFP/tender preparation.

    Main Accountabilities

    • Development of contracting strategy for different natures of construction contracts and services for Business
    • Work with the other members of the management team to confirm the contract strategy for construction contracts and for service contracts
    • Development of potential contractors list including review/audit of their facilities and capabilities and feedback from within Company, Industry
    • Development of relevant procedures from RFP/tender preparation through to Contract administration and close out
    • Responsibility spanning Prequalification of tenderers, tender, award and administration of construction and most service contracts
    • Lead and manage work of Contract Administrator(s)
    • Interfacing with project insurance program requirements relevant to Project and contract risks
    • Set up and implement strict contract change procedure
    • Contract claim management and lead dispute resolution arising from contracts
    • Ensure proper recording of contracts, all change orders and service receipts in Purchasing system ( like SAP)
    • Interface with the other members of Management team for timely verification of Contractor’s progress billing and invoices
    • Liasion with Cost controls for budget and schedule compliance of the contracts
    • Ensure proper and complete documentation for working and audit purposes
    • Periodic reporting including Contractor review to Management
    • Liaison as may be required with legal counsel
    • Comply with the regulator and permitting requirements relevant to Contracting
    • Monitor and share key performance indicators to understand key contractors’ performance
    • Any other duties/projects/assignment as discussed with the Department Head

    Main Qualifications

    • Hands on experience of at least 10 years in handling major contracts formation and administration
    • Graduate/Post-graduate degree
    • Proficient in computer skills- MS Excel, PPT, word, outlook etc., quick typing an asset
    • Hands-on Knowledge of SAP MM is highly desired.
