    The Manager, Environmental, Social, Governance will act as the company’s centre of expertise on environmental monitoring programs and data management. The Manager position will be responsible for ensuring the implementation of monitoring programs aligns with Project terms and conditions and are continuously responding to inputs of new data and technological innovations. 

    Main Accountabilities

    Reporting to the Director of Sustainable Development to:

    • Act as the center of expertise for the company on all environmental monitoring programs and data Review technical environmental monitoring reports and develop plain language summaries to be shared with local communities and external stakeholders
    • Provide guidance and oversight to environmental consultants on all marine and terrestrial environment monitoring programs
    • Ensure compliance to terms and conditions related to environmental monitoring
    • Ensure proper data management from monitoring programs is securely managed in-house
    • Develop strategies and work with external parties to increase community based monitoring initiatives
    • Co-ordinate logistics for environmental working group meetings and act as co-chair
    • Work closely with Site Environment staff and operations to coordinate the implementation of environmental field monitoring programs
    • Keep records of communications with external stakeholders
    • Research and report on industry best practices for environmental monitoring
    • Support Baffinland participation in technical conferences and industry associations
    • Foster positive relationships with community members and leaders
    • Support the implementation of the Sustainable Development policy
    • Support the implementation of Project Environmental Management Systems
    • Perform other duties as required

    Main Qualifications

    • Undergraduate degree in environmental science, engineering or related field (a graduate degree in sustainability, environmental science or engineering would be an asset).
    • 5 to 7 years of relevant work experience in the environmental or sustainable development field.
    • Excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to interact professionally with culturally and linguistically diverse staff, clients and consultants.
    • Results oriented with strong organizational, writing and analytical skills.
    • Flexibility to travel to remote northern locations, as required.
    • A positive leader with an ability to influence and empathetic approach.
