    The Geotechnicians will provide geotechnical and geological support to all Mary River Project field programs including down hole geophysical logging of drill holes, processing of drill core at the drill site, monitoring drill hole progress, as well as other camp responsibilities as required. This includes completing drill site inspections and communicating safe work procedures to all contractors on site.

    Main Accountabilities

    • Follow and adhere to Baffinland’s Environment, Health and Safety Policies and Standards at all times
    • Monitor daily drill production while ensuring quality results
    • Assist with down hole surveys at the completion of drill holes.
    • Assist with pre-drilling, daily and post-drilling site inspections.
    • Processing drill core at the rig before shipment back to camp.
    • Daily communication with geologists and drill contractor.
    • General camp duties that may occur in the course of supporting the Exploration program.  

    Main Qualifications

    • Concern for Safety, Health and Environment
    • Attention to detail and organization
    • Must be physically fit to perform daily field work over rough terrain in remote areas
    • Strong ability to work cooperatively within a team environment
    • Previous field experience would be considered an asset
    • Basic abilities with Microsoft Office would be considered an asset
    • Hold or be able to obtain a valid standard First aid + CPR certificate
    • Hold or be able to obtain a valid site driver's license
    • Firearms Possession and Acquisition License (PAL) is an asset
