Mission for this Position

Reporting to the Senior Mobile Maintenance Planner, the Mobile Maintenance Planner will ensure safe execution of all tasks are performed while providing detailed safety focused plans to the Mobile Maintenance Department execution teams along with the department's business support contractors. An expert organizing planned maintenance activities, this position will ensure accurate and quality long and short term plans and schedules are in place while driving continuous improvement and value generating initiatives.

Main Accountabilities

Investigate task non-conformances/compliances thoroughly and administer corrective actions up to and including disciplinary action when required, in conjunction with management.

  • Report, track and approve employee and contractor hours and maintain records of hours worked under their direction. Organize and schedule appropriate labor levels to adhere to budget forecasts.
  • Use SAP software CMMS proficiently to properly set equipment hierarchies, implement BOMs, document work performed, order parts, create and manage plans, check inventory, monitor equipment history etc. Collaborate and communicate with other planners, supervisors and others in the department as well as train others to use SAP regularly.
  • Monitor all Maintenance equipment and infrastructure condition and ensure preventative maintenance is performed properly. Act on areas requiring improvement, repair, or correction while ensuring compliance to all applicable standards.
  • Ensure compliance to planned mobile equipment maintenance schedules. Manage equipment backlog, contractors and track all work performed by employees and contractors while properly documenting task completion and budget compliance.
  • Perform pre intervention inspections of equipment being repaired and perform pre-release inspections on equipment with completed interventions to ensure safe and reliable operating condition.
  • Ensure all safety and fire prevention systems on all equipment are operating correctly at all times and are operating as designed. Responsible for all mandatory inspections, testing, NDT, repairs and documentation pertaining to legislated equipment requirements are completed.
  • Collaborate with the Senior Planner and other maintenance planners and supervisors in all planning and scheduling functions.
  • Lead the preparation of scopes and monitor performance to plan. Ensure plan deviations or deficiencies are communicated to the department including specifics pertaining to the causes of non-compliance and put actions in place effectively to achieve overall plan and schedule compliance.
  • Support urgent breakdown repairs to ensure they are attended to adequately in the shop or field, in a timely manner by employees or contractors. Verify required parts and place urgent orders to communicate requirements externally to prioritize deliveries accordingly.
  • Actively promote cooperation and communication between maintenance, contractors, vendors and all other departments within the operation.
  • Identify opportunities for the continuous improvement of maintenance processes and systems. Action improvements directly under the planning group’s control.
  • Complete reports and perform record keeping as required, ensuring accuracy of reported data by the department.
  • Welding and fabrication planning experience required with an emphasis on equipment, structural and ground engaging tool maintenance best practices and procedure development.
  • Responsible for reporting of all equipment and departmental KPIs as well as all data collection and reporting thereof.

• Planners work shift work to cover continuous operations. They must ensure effective communication within the department at all times, especially during shift and rotational changes.

 

Main Qualifications

Previous experience working in a remote Arctic operation with camp accommodations.

  • SAP - Extensive systems expertise, experience and efficiency mandatory
  • 5 or more years of mobile maintenance experience with a minimum of 3 or more years in a Mobile Maintenance Planning role in an open pit mining environment.
  • Previous experience working with employees of all competency levels including developing individuals with minimal experience at apprenticeship levels performing maintenance in a mining environment in a remote camp setting.
  • Experience mentoring, providing solid direction and safety leadership to all employees and contractors under their direction in harsh arctic field environments and in the workshops.
  • Valid Nunavut WSCC Supervisor and First Aid Certificates
  • Extensive experience planning and scheduling as well as supervising maintenance and overhauls being performed on the following equipment:

o Atlas Copco PV271 & D65 drills

o Cat 6030 face shovel

o Cat MD6290 drills

o Cat 793F and 777G trucks

o Cat 14M/16H/16M Motorgraders

o Cat D6/D9T/D10T Track Type tractors

o Cat 390D/320D/345D Excavators

o Cat 994K/992K/988H/950/930 Wheel loaders

o Cat 740B Articulated trucks

o Sandvik DX800 drills

o Lube trucks, Skidsteers, Telehandlers, Forklifts, Cranes and other ancillary equipment

o Terex/Grove Cranes of various models

o Western Star 6900XD Tractors with B-Train trailers, Kenworth Tractor

  • Valid Professional Engineering Designation or Red Seal Trade Certification in a relevant discipline

• Valid Canadian Driver’s license to operate vehicles in Nunavut
