Reporting to Reliability Manager. Reliability Technologist provides support to ensure reliable, sustainable and cost effective production of Iron Ore aligned with the site strategic plans and objectives of the Reliability department to ensure a high level of asset health.  Provide technical support to ensure reliable sustainable and cost effective production utilizing predictive maintenance technologies. This initiative will consist of data acquisition and analysis of equipment operating conditions using technologies such as vibration, ultrasound and infra red etc.

 

The position is site based and will be on 3 weeks on / 3 weeks off rotation.

Main Accountabilities

  • Support Reliability to develop processes, methodologies, systems, and technical support to ensure reliable sustainable asset management utilizing predictive maintenance technologies
  • Provide technical support to operations and maintenance on a day to day basis to ensure personnel have the information required to make informed decisions about asset management development, bill of material, and equipment PM/PDM maintenance strategies.
  • Perform subject matter expert duties for equipment bill of material development and maintenance plans.
  • Development and execution of condition-based monitoring program. Collection and analysis of data for the condition-based monitoring program to provide proactive analysis and work identification for all departments.
  • Initiating notifications in SAP for work identified by the condition-based monitoring practice.
  • Provide feedback to the Reliability Engineer for the continuous improvement of the condition-based monitoring program.
  • Conduct observations and analyze data including downtime, cycle time analysis, etc. in order to bring recommendations for improvement opportunities forward to the team.
  • Track, communicate and share results and lessons learned – ensures successes are published and communicated to all employees.
  • Participate in JHAs etc. to provide technical support as required.
  • Act as a change agent to instill an operational excellence, performance improvement culture throughout the organization.
  • Continuous interaction with maintenance and operations personnel to provide technical support as required for Operational Reliability
  • Efficient interaction with Supply Chain Management to ensure effective supply acquisition and deliveries
  • Other duties as assigned.

Main Qualifications

  • 5-7 years experience in mining
  • Diploma in Mechanical Technology, Heavy Diesel and/or Industrial Mechanic
  • Experience using SAP Maintenance System
  • Experience in maintenance or reliability engineering required.
  • Experience in operations and/or maintenance is required.
  • Experience with developing and reviewing process methodology and tools an asset.
  • Experience in open pit mining preferred, Arctic experience beneficial.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Suite
  • Strategic thinking and understanding of critical issues related to mining.
