Ensure successful execution and management of sustaining capital and other operational projects at the Mary River Mine and Milne Port. Deliver assigned projects safely and within approved budget, schedule and quality parameters, and in compliance with established health, safety, environmental, regulatory and internal corporate requirements

 

The position is site based and will be on 3 weeks on / 3 weeks off rotation.

Main Accountabilities

  • Define scope of work for sustaining capital and other operational projects for the Mary River Mine and Milne Port.
  • Develop project execution plans, cost estimates, schedules, project personnel and equipment resourcing requirements and risk mitigation plans in consultation with stakeholders to minimize impact on operations and production.
  • Manage execution of projects within approved scope, budget, schedule and quality constraints and in compliance with health, safety and environmental standards.
  • Manage project cost tracking and control and execute change management within established corporate project management guidelines.
  • Management of contractors and consultants, ensuring close monitoring of construction activities against project baselines and KPIs, and frequent reporting of progress update.
  • Support development of Approval for Expenditure (AFEs).
  • Lead coordination of project close out processes including but not limited to commissioning, deficiency remediation, handover to operations and participate in Post Investment Reviews (PIRs).
  • Utilize established project management tools, systems and processes, and contribute to the development and optimization of the project management tools and system.
  • Participate in development, implementation and adherence to safe work procedures and promote high safety, health and environmental awareness and compliance to all standards.
  • Support development of the department's annual execution plan and develops area specific, goals and objectives.
  • Effective communication, liaison with project stakeholders and coordination with colleagues including those on opposite rotation as well as colleagues based in the corporate office.
  • Other duties as required.

 

Main Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree required 
  • 10 years of mining or construction project management experience including civil/structural engineering
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Project or other project management software
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification considered an asset
  • Professional Engineer registered in Nunavut (or able to register)
  • Experience with SAP considered an asset
  • Experience with AUTOCAD or similar software considered an asset
  • Previous Arctic and remote site experience
  • Influential leadership skills
  • Client focused
