Reporting to Assistant controller and responsible for financial reporting and corporate accounting using IFRS in order to comply with accurate, effective and timely reporting

Main Accountabilities

  • Responsible for monthly, quarterly and annual preparation of Baffinland consolidated financial statements and notes
  • Responsible for the accounting and reporting of revenue (IFRS 15), hedges, shareholders’ equity and leases
  • Prepare information for the quarterly tax provision for Baffinland entities
  • Responsible for the Baffinland consolidation
  • Ensure the integrity of the Company’s general ledger by maintaining the chart of accounts
  • Assist with government financial surveys
  • Assist with the preparation and review of the quarterly management discussion and analysis
  • Responsible for identification and reporting for related party transactions
  • Responsible for the BPM upload
  • Responsible for reviewing tax returns prepared by third party
  • Addressing shareholder queries on funding and working with legal compliance
  • Responsible for affiliate entities book keeping and financial reporting preparation
  • Responsible for monitoring upcoming changes to IFRSs
  • Prepare accounting position papers on the implementation of new or amended IFRS standard and for new transactions

Main Qualifications

  • Post-secondary education in Accounting with a minimum of 5 years proven financial reporting experience or equivalent
  • CPA and/or CA required 
  • Strong knowledge of IFRS
  • Experiencing in the mining industry preferred
  • Experience with SAP
  • Strong Excel and Word skills 
  • Sound business acumen, strategic thinker and analytical skills
  • Strong communicaton skills, both written and oral
