Reporting to the Superintendent of Road maintenance, this position is responsible to coordinate and supervise the daily maintenance, repair and geotechnical work required on 100 km of road in the Arctic as required by seasonal condition. Will also be responsible to coach and enforce BIM’s safety practices and standards and ensure SOP’s are read, signed and understood.

Main Accountabilities

• • Oversee all maintenance aspects of 100 km of haulage road year round
• Consistently and equitably apply BIM policies, procedures, teach, support and verify safe and efficient work practices by visible, felt and engaging leadership
• Apply geotechnical expertise to provide recommendations and direction on road construction, maintenance and provide support for analysis and design and implement continuous improvement measurements
• Monitor and perform regular geotechnical inspections of the tote road
• Verify that appropriate Job Hazard Analysis and other risk control tools are used for every job
• Report on incidents and investigate according to policy
• Develop and execute daily crew schedules and track progress of construction activities
• Monitor the performance of those doing the work, and take action to improve the capability of the team to meet future needs through the development or selection of personnel
• Work with technical and operations personnel to construct and maintain road to design. Communicate any deviations to management and coordinate corrective actions; ensure that geotechnical factors, designs and requirements are factored into the short, medium and long-term road maintenance plans.
• Meet objectives and comply with; safety plans, incident reporting process, policy/procedure reviews, etc.
• Using practical judgment within the limits set by the Manager, to manage social problems as they occur.
• Mentor and provide performance feedback to team members. Coach and counsel employees on the standards of behavior, and take corrective actions as required including discipline.
• Provide input and work collaboratively with peers and other departments to achieve capital, production and/or maintenance projects/schedules.
• To provide leadership for the operations crew.
• To assess operators and to evaluate their training requirements.
• Required to report on production targets and daily performance.
• Coordinate equipment repairs, services and PM’s as required by schedule and planning

Main Qualifications

  • High School Diploma
  • 5-7 years of experience in a supervisory/management role
  • Heavy Equipment experience in remote site operations
