The Production Engineer is accountable for supporting Mine Production on all technical aspects. The position involves performance analysis and optimization of all mining activities (development, drilling, blasting, loading, hauling, etc.) and tactical planning to ensure supply chain capacity alignment. Reporting to the Mining Superintendent and working alongside both Operations and Technical teams, the Production Engineer is the link between Planning and Execution.

 

Main Accountabilities

• Deliver an executable plan every 24 hours.
• Ensuring production targets are met (drilled meters, blasted tonnes, mined tonnes, crusher feed).
• Ensuring Ore quality delivered to the crusher meets product specifications.
• Maximizing equipment utilization and productivity while supporting planned maintenance.
• Provide technical guidance to various stakeholders (operators, mine supervisors, technical personnel, etc.).
• Monitor mining activities and dumps progression to ensure adherence to environmental regulations and standards.
• Monitor equipment performance, report and provide feedback to stakeholders.
• Conduct consumables studies.
• Manage improvement projects/initiatives, document and present results/outcomes.

Main Qualifications

• Degree in mining engineering with 3+ years experience in open pit mining or equivalent.
• Knowledge of CAD software and Microsoft suite is essential.
• Valid Supervisors certificate will be considered an asset.
• Valid Nunavut Blasting certificate (or ability to obtain) will be considered an asset.
• Legally able to work in Canada
• Experience in mine planning and mine production is essential.
• Strategic thinking and deep understanding of mining production systems is required.
• Experience in data analysis and process optimization will be considered an asset.
• Experience in Drill and Blast quality management will be considered an asset.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team-based environment as well as independently when required
• Ability to provide leadership to a team in execution of projects/initiatives.
• Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, to convey complex technical information clearly and concisely
• Ability to effectively communicate and problem solve at field level.
• Basic knowledge of project management principles and methodologies
