Reporting to the HR Business Partner, the Payroll Specialist is responsible for analyzing, auditing, and reconciling payroll data to ensure accuracy and compliance with company policies and regulations. The successful candidate will have outstanding interpersonal and communication skills, strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and a thorough understanding of payroll processes.

Main Accountabilities

  • Responsible for adhering to payroll cut off timelines ensuring payroll processing schedule and deadlines are met.
  • Process and monitor all staffing changes including new hires, leaves, return to works, transfers, salary adjustments,College DiplomaCollege Diploma timesheets, manual cheques, terminations, other changes in accordance with legislative requirements and company standards.
  • Conduct frequent audits to ensure payroll database reflects current and accurate information.
  • Analyze payroll data to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Reconcile payroll accounts and resolve any issues or discrepancies.
  • Rectify payroll discrepancies and provide timely responses to employee payroll inquiries.
  • Review and verify employee time records and attendance data.
  • Ensure vacation accruals and activity are properly tracked and accounted.
  • Assist with the preparation of payroll related third party transactions including the remittances.
  • Provide basis interpretation relating to overtime provisions; explain administrative policies relating to pay; escalate issues internally as and when required.
  • Lead payroll-related projects, such as payroll frequency changes, system implementations or process improvements.
  • Experience working in union environment and the ability to interpret collective agreement required.
  • Responsible for running ad hoc and standard reporting for finance, compensation, payroll functions.
  • Maintain confidentiality of payroll information and sensitive employee data.

Main Qualifications

  • College Diploma: Payroll
  • SAP Experience
  • ADP Experience (Workforce Now)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Advanced-level Excel skills
  • Minimum of 5 years direct experience in Payroll Function
  • Bachelor’s Degree: Business Administration, Payroll or Human Resources (preferred )
