Reporting to the Site Services Manager, the Superintendent will ensure effective operation of the Essential Services, Accommodations, Water Treatment Facilities, Waste Management, Site roads & building maintenance and repair at the Mary River Mine Site and Milne Port Site. They will work along side Transportation & Logistics Superintendent in coordinated activities. This role is based at our Mary River mine site in Nunavut on a 3 week in and 3 week out rotation.
• Lead, coach mentor Supervisors and a team of operators for safe and effective operation of all mine site facilities
• Coordinate the maintenance and upkeep of the site roads, laydowns and aerodrome.
• Oversee annual activities including sealift and associated orders relevant to orders.
• Ensure that work performed correctly, safely, on time and in an environmentally sound manner with minimal impact on mine site productivity.
• Manage contracts.
• Secure appropriate manpower and equipment within departmental budget, report and provide details if required to deviate from budget plans.
• Prepare plans and procedures, and communicate objectives and information clearly and effectively.
• Inspect work weekly to identify training needs.
• Perform job-specific hazard analyses to identify safety concerns and take action to rectify any issues.
• Communicate with other department personnel to plan and schedule maintenance work including the provision of supplies and equipment.
• Inform others of maintenance problems and any scheduled or unscheduled equipment downtime that may affect production.
• Analyze maintenance records to identify trends and issues.
• Basic aviation knowledge and/or experience to support when required
• Prepare or revise programs, procedures, parts, systems, etc. to maximize the availability of equipment.
• Maintain accurate records of site services performance indicators on a daily basis.
• Produce weekly summary reports for the Manager, Site Services.
• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Logistics
• 5-7 years of experience in Site Services supervision and/or monitoring specific to mining or construction industries
• Arctic experience
• 10 years of remote site experience
• Experience with potable water & waste water treatment systems
• Experience with Camp management
• Knowledge of relevant environmental legislation, standards and effective industry practices.
• CMMS and SAP experience is considered an asset
• Knowledge of TDG / IMDG regulations
