Reporting to the Continuous Improvement and Reliability Superintendent, this role will use continuous improvement methodologies to identify, develop and implement improvement initiatives across all departments at Baffinland Iron Mines.

Main Accountabilities

  • Lead and influence personnel at multiple levels to improve operational processes that ensure a safe work environment, maximize profitability, drive quality improvements and reduce operating costs.
  • Drive continuous improvement by conducting a thorough analysis of data and the work environment (Current State Analysis).
  • Implement tools of the Toyota Production System such as 5S, SMED, TPM, KanBan, Value Stream Mapping etc.
  • Utilize the DMAIC Process to lead team based improvement projects
  • Facilitate improvement workshops and Kaizens in order to reduce / eliminate Tim Woods (Process Waste)
  • Implement effective measurement tools associated with continuous improvement tracking. (Excel / PowerBi)
  • Support improvement in existing processes including eliminating variation and non-value added work.
  • Compliance with all company policies and procedures including, but not limited to safety, environmental, and confidentiality.
  • Train/coach/mentor other employees on the principles of Continuous Improvement.
  • Consistently exercises discretion and judgment in job performance.

Perform other related functions as assigned by supervisor.

Main Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree - Business 

Minimum of 5years experience in Continuous Improvement

Formal training in Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certified, with proven record of accomplishment of applications

Formal training in Lean Six Sigma Black Belt certified, with proven record of accomplishment of applications.

Agile Certification (preferred)
