Mission for this Position

Report to the Planning Superintendent, the Planner, Short Term will plan facility maintenance work, mobile equipment repairs, and internal projects as well as working closely with Reliability and Mobile Maintenance on supporting the Iron Ore Mining operation.

Main Accountabilities

  • Attend daily, weekly, monthly safety meetings and actively engage in safety culture.
  • Provide technical/operational input into maintenance procedures and systems to ensure operational readiness.
  • Effective and thorough capability in the utilization of SAP maintenance management computer system.
  • Collaborate with necessary department resources to develop work scopes, job plans, safe work instructions, parts lists for accurate plans for the scheduling and manpower forecasting.
  • Attend daily, weekly, monthly planning meetings to review prioritizes for maintenance notifications and work requests with other operational departments and team members.
  • Principle contact and liaison between the maintenance department and operations groups and ensuring maintenance service in a timely manner to ensure high equipment availability and performance.
  • Review work request for accuracy and clarity, clear scope of work, realistic completion date, proper lead time, correct equipment identification, proper costing information, proper authorization, and discuss details with originator of the work order when required.
  • Actively participate in planning and scheduling meeting with operation partners to finalize priority of work orders, optimum downtime windows, and necessary time leads.
  • Continuously improve the job estimate, planning and scheduling by receiving feedback from maintenance supervisors, maintenance leads, production supervisors, engineers and production planners.
  • Compile, update and distribute backlog reports and other mandated control reports.
  • Create and continually update maintenance programs, schedules, and equipment parts bill of material lists in SAP.
  • Perform asset entry of new equipment into SAP, logging equipment information and details
  • Identify emergency stock and critical materials in SAP and BOM.
  • Visit repair shops and locations where your planned activity is being carried out and interact to understand the required repair details, the challenges and potential opportunities for improvements.
  • Monitor Back Logged parts closely, change work order status accordingly ultimately to a schedulable status.
  • Audit planned work and job kits and ensure accuracy.
  • Understand our requirement for parts stocking on site. Build RFI’s as required. Request parts stocking changes for any under/over stock requirements.

Main Qualifications

  • Technical Diploma as a technician/technologist electrician, or heavy diesel mechanic required.
  • 7 years to less than 10 years of experience in short-term planning with experience in planning facility or mobile maintenance.
  • Proficient working knowledge of SAP computer maintenance management system required.
  • Proficient working knowledge of Microsoft Project software required.
  • Ability to confidently present to a broad range of people and able to answer questions accordingly required.
  • Planning and scheduling training course certification required
  • An applicable facility maintenance trades certification preferred.
