Reporting to the Information Technology (IT) Superintendent, the IT Support Technician is accountable for diagnosing and repairing all IT systems and equipment to reduce the negative impact of errors or downtime to the business, and performed safely in accordance with Baffinland safety procedures.  The Technician provides 2nd level of support and assistance to on site business partners and project contractors.

Main Accountabilities

  • Provide general IT Help Desk technical support, to users, on computer software and hardware and troubleshooting
  • Ensure availability of IT assets by tracking inventory and placing orders for new/replacement equipment as required.
  • Respond to IT issues by anticipating, identifying, mitigating, and troubleshooting to resolving hardware and software problems on IT resources.
  • Enforce Baffinland security standards and policies by checking for security breaches in the network and employees’ computers to ensure secure Baffinland data.

Main Qualifications

  • High School diploma in Information Technology, Software or Hardware Engineering (MCSE, CCNA, ITIL),  College diploma is an asset
  • Minimum one (1) year of experience in desktop support, call center, network or software support
  • Experience with writing various forms of business documents, including reports, manuals and operational procedures
