Mission for this Position

Reporting to the Technical Services Superintendent and under the guidance of the Senior Mine Surveyor, the Mine Surveyor provides survey services to Mine Operations. From time to time, the Surveyor maybe requested to go to Port site as well to perform survey duties.

Main Accountabilities

  • Ensuring work procedures are followed and safety standards are adhered to (risk assessment, incident reporting & investigating, policy & procedures review, MOC, etc.).
  • Conduct various surveys tasks (staking, face positions, levels, drone flights, volume calculations, etc.)
  • Incorporate survey data in designs and reports and provide information as required to various customers.
  • Provides topographic surveys of construction site areas as required.
  • Manage site master layers for all infrastructure, excavations, stockpiles, topography, etc.

Main Qualifications

  • Minimum two (2) years of experience in mining open pit
  • Minimum five (5) years of general survey experience
  • Diploma from a vocational institution
  • College Diploma is an asset
  • Drone Pilot License
  • Experience with all common modern survey instruments such as Trimble
  • Digital Literacy skills: Knowledge of digital tools and technology. Proficient with standard office software such as Microsoft Office, and Minesight

Compensation

Compensation for this position is aligned with Baffinland’s approved compensation framework and current market conditions. Final compensation will be determined based on:

  • Relevant education and certifications
  • Related training and experience
  • Internal equity considerations

This site-based role is eligible for participation in the travel benefits, site premiums, comprehensive health and dental coverage, and pension participation.
