Reporting to the Site Services Supervisor, the summer student will support the Site Services waste and water summer program. The student will gain experience in waste management, wastewater treatment programs, oil-water separation processes, and freshets.

Main Accountabilities

  • Assist with material, waste, and wastewater inventory management, including tracking quantities and maintaining accurate records
  • Perform waste segregation, packaging, handling, and disposal in accordance with environmental and safety guidelines
  • Operate and support the oil-water separator treatment system to ensure proper functionality and compliance
  • Conduct water sampling and basic analysis in accordance with established procedures
  • Support pump operations and chemical dosing for water treatment processes
  • Maintain documentation, tracking logs, and data records for operational and regulatory requirements
  • Perform tote cleaning using a pressure washer
  • Assist with freshet (spring melt) preparation and related operational activities
  • Support the management of contaminated soil stockpiles, including preparation and organization
  • Implement and maintain erosion and sediment control measures on site
  • Operate skid steer equipment for material handling (training and certification as required)
  • Perform general site support duties and other related tasks as assigned

Main Qualifications

  • High School diploma
  • Enrolled in Post secondary program
  • Valid Driver’s Licence
  • Highly competent in standard office software such as Microsoft Office, Excel, Word and One Note
  • Prior experience in a remote/arctic industrial area would be an asset

Compensation

Compensation for this position is aligned with Baffinland’s approved compensation framework and current market conditions. Final compensation will be determined based on:
• Relevant education and certifications
• Related training and experience
• Internal equity considerations

This site-based role is eligible for participation in the travel benefits, site premiums, comprehensive health and dental coverage, and pension participation.
