Reporting to the Environmental Superintendent or designate, the Junior Environmental Specialist participates in a structured professional-development program intended to build the technical,
regulatory, analytical and operational competencies required for progression into an Environmental Specialist role.
The Junior Specialist receives cross-functional experience across the Environmental Department while completing increasingly complex assignments in areas such as regulatory reporting, environmental monitoring, technical review, data interpretation, Environmental Work Plan review, management planning, incident follow-up and operational support. The primary development focus will be aligned with departmental priorities, individual aptitude and the current distribution of Specialist work.
The role combines office-based analytical and reporting responsibilities with direct participation in field implementation, inspections, training, mentoring and environmental incident response. Assignments are completed under progressively reduced supervision as competencies are demonstrated.
Provides technical support to the Environmental Team within demonstrated areas of competence.
