Reporting to the Environmental Coordinator, the Contract Environmental Technician works closely with other environmental technicians and field staff to conduct field monitoring and sampling programs. They will also assist with environment compliance monitoring for site operations with associated analyses and data management, as well as construction monitoring. This role will also will provide support to the rest of the Environmental group as needed in the field. This role requires work outdoors, potentially in inclement weather conditions up to 75% of the time. The job can be physically demanding and it requires walking long distances, lifting of objects up to 50 pounds and getting in and out of vehicles frequently. this role will be offered as a fixed term. Reporting to the Senior Manager, Regulatory Affairs, the Environmental Assessment Specialist facilitates the approval of major project expansions by supporting Baffinland participation in land use planning, environmental assessment, and water licensing processes. The Specialist coordinates the development of necessary applications for North Baffin Regional Land Use Plan amendments, Project Certificate reconsiderations, and Type A Water License amendments. In addition, participate in the updating of the Project’s Environmental Management and Monitoring Plans to ensure the Plans reflect the terms and conditions included in applicable approvals as the commitments identified throughout the review processes.
